Support Announcement – Gorstey Lea
Gorstey Lea are incredibly proud to make their live debut as a 5 piece band to bring a set of their ‘psychindiefolk’ original songs to The Hub in Lichfield.
Russ Phillips and Michael Clapham met 39 years ago on a road in Burntwood ‘Gorstey Lea’, and have been friends ever since.
Since 2017 they have been performing and recording as a duo around the Staffordshire area.
Their songs ‘The British Isles’ ‘Bluebird, Hollywood… Domino’ ‘Saint Marie’ have received National Airplay on BBC 6 Music whilst garnering critical acclaim from around the globe since their release.
Chris Hawkins (6 Music presenter) called ‘The British Isles’ ‘a tonic for the times’ with it’s Joe Strummer sampled speech ‘Without People You’re Nothing…’ resonating in these heady days.
When the call came to be added to the bill with their old pals The Jeeps, the decision was made to put a live band together.
Michael and Russ will be joined by:
Martin Betts – Bass
Sean Bradnick – Drums
Rich ‘Swiss’ Harris – Multi instrumentalist
In addition, Gorstey Lea have also just been announced as special guests on the upcoming Lightning Seeds gig at the Halls Wolverhampton on 14th December 2024.
This is a fundraising event in aid of The Hub at St Mary’s.
