The Jazz Funk Machine

Get down with the groove as Tom Hill, Andy Shillingford and Nick Millward bring the golden era of ’70s funk through to modern jazz fusion to life, joined by special guest pianist Al Gurr, back for this one-off performance. This feel-good set shines a light on the music of Herbie Hancock, George Duke, Grover Washington Jr., Weather Report, Dave Sanborn, The Crusaders and more – performed by some of the country’s most respected and well-loved musicians.

This special collaboration places bass, piano, saxophone and drums equally at the heart of the music, with all four musicians sharing the spotlight. Together they bring decades of experience, having all worked with the very best on the UK jazz scene, in a project that celebrates the music of the funk masters – a true fusion feast guaranteed to lift spirits and move feet. So pull on your loons, roll up, and enjoy this feel-good music live.

The band is also joined by guest guitarist Tom Morgan, director of this year’s festival, adding an extra layer of fire and finesse to an already stellar lineup.

The lineup features:
Tom Hill – bass, internationally respected jazz musician and voice-over artist
Al Gurr – piano, highly regarded Sussex-based pianist, returning as a special guest
Andy Shillingford – saxophone, a Midlands favourite and leading voice on the scene,
Nick Millward – drums, groove-driven powerhouse with a formidable career in the music industry,
Tom Morgan – guest guitar, director of this year’s festival.

Beyond the bandstand, Tom Hill has worked with some of the world’s finest jazz artists and is also widely known as the voice of Tony the Tiger, with an extensive career in TV, film and video games across the US and UK.
