Dee Allum & Michelle Shaughnessy: Work In Progress

Catch these two rising comedy stars destined for the Edinburgh Fringe stage, tearing up The Hub this summer! These award-winning comics are destined for bigger things and about to explode, but you can see them live and in person, before they hit the big time.

The Alter Presents…

Dee Allum

Deadname (Work In Progress)

She’s here! She’s queer! Her parents are sort-of used to it! Fresh, exciting and overall just happy to be here, Dee is the greatest transgender comedian her small village has ever produced. This debut stand-up show is about reconciling with the past, coming out and going through two puberties (frankly, two too many).

“Delightfully funny… thoroughly engaging”

“You could well be furious about not getting a ticket to one of their sold-out shows very soon” Guardian

Dee Allum was a finalist in the 2022 BBC New Comedy Award competition and started her comedy career performing sketches with the Cambridge Footlights. In the last two years Dee has been nominated for Best Newcomer at the Chortle Awards, placed as runner up in the Leicester Square Theatre New Comedian of the Year Award 2021 and won the 2Northdown New Act Competition 2021.

Michelle Shaughnessy

Too Late, Baby (Work in Progress)

A show for anyone who thinks it’s too late to achieve their dreams…because it probably is.

This is an admission of ‘holy sh*t. I think I’ve missed the boat’. Michelle is not close to reaching her goals. Instead of whining about it, she is doing what she does best – turning it into comedy.

‘Charismatic and relatable… comedy gold’ ****

‘I can’t for the life of me understand why she’s not a household name!’ Ed Byrne

“Raw, honest, vulnerable and INCREDIBLY funny all at once. Her interactions with an audience never fail to be explosively entertaining. I am very excited for her new show” Adam Hills

Originally based in Toronto, Michelle Shaughnessy fast made a name for herself across North America. She’s had numerous appearances on television and her debut album “You Know What You Did” hit number one on the iTunes comedy charts. Her sophomore album “Botoxic” received a coveted 5 star review from Toronto’s iconic NOW Magazine. In 2017 she was a finalist in Canada’s “Top Comic” competition. In 2018 her original scripted pilot was a finalist in Just For Laughs Stand Up and Pitch” sitcom contest. She is also an accomplished writer and actor with credits that span commercial, variety, scripted and unscripted television. Her acting work has been featured on Hulu, Amazon Prime and Netflix. Now based in London Michelle is fast becoming a fan favourite at clubs all over the UK. She has most recently been doing tour support for Ed Byrne and Adam Hills.

The event is finished.
