Alex Ohm’s New Sounds

Alex Ohm presents a night of the best up and coming live music from the Midlands and surrounding areas.

Alex and The Rewired Podcast team celebrate the rich variety of up and coming music the area has to offer.

On 13th October, headliners World Speed Record are joined by SIRACUSE, The Space and Rewired DJs.

World Speed Record

World Speed Record stem from years of stylistic change and development as the four-piece from Birmingham worked to find a sound of their own. Brothers Ben and Tom Phillips became hooked on making music as young teens in a house filled with guitar-based classics, and soon began performing throughout the UK, leading them to meet bass player and close friend Alex Jones. Recent addition to the line-up is Jack Ensor, a renowned drummer amongst the local indie scene. They aimed to produce a tight and infectious sound with their debut single ‘Lost In Between’ and the EP that followed later in 2022. With a depth of experience as a live band, World Speed Record look to capture listeners with a fresh take on that familiar rock and roll sound

SIRACUSE released Forever (Expanded Edition) on March 17, 2023, a reissue of their 2020 debut with three new tunes, on new label Vibrant Sky Records. Recorded and mixed at Tower Studios Pershore by Dave Draper and mastered by Draper and Peter Maher. The album is a collection of SIRACUSE’s best work to date, following on from 2017’s Control EP which gained support from John Kennedy’s Xposure show on Radio X. Forever shifts up through the gears, with driving, reverberated guitars, big drums, and distorted bass lines. The LP is full of swirling, deep echoes and lyrics representing escapism and hope. Influenced by shoegaze and heavy use of guitar pedals, it’s atmospheric, dreamlike, but immediate and urgent at the same time.

The event is finished.
